Until 1998, I built a range of historical and modern bowed and plucked instruments, but that year I returned to my first love, the guitar, and more specifically the arch top 'jazz' guitar.
The first arch tops were replicas of Gibson Super 400's and John D'Angelico's instruments, which I got to know during my time in England (West Dean College apprentice). Whilst visiting the museum of the Royal College of Music in London, I would sneak out and go to music shops in Denmark Street, where I became acquainted with the instruments of D'Angelico. Sotheby's, the famous auction house, which maintained close links with West Dean College, provided the possibility to study various instruments, amongst them D'Angelico's guitars.
In 2000 my D’Angelico replica’s were rewarded with the 'Mastership Award', during the annual Dutch 'Guitar & Amp' show.
